In 2008, the Royal Trio will be crowned on October 5, the final Sunday of the new fall rodeo "Canadian Rodeo Tour Championships", with their reign ending after the 2009 Stampede. As a result, the Stampede Royalty Committee will now call upon the services of Past Royalty: Caia Morstad, Amanda Byrne, Trina Percival, Lauren MacLennan, Justine Milner and Coleen Crowe, to fulfill the role of Stampede ambassadors in the weeks leading up to, and after, the 2009 CRTC. The Salute to Royalty is an opportunity to recognize the Queens' Alumni Committee during the parade and at several scheduled public appearances including breakfasts, the daily Rodeo and Grandstand show.

Applications for the 2009 Royalty Contest will be accepted from Monday, June 2, 2008 until Friday, August 29, 2008 (application & information-calgarystampede.com/royalty). The competition will begin on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 and will conclude with the crowning of our new Royal Trio on the final Sunday, October 5, of the fall rodeo.
